Depo almost killed me… no literally!
I was on the depo shot from the ages of 18 until I was roughly 20/21 years old for period and sexual reasons. Before getting on the shot I would sometimes bleed up to 20 days a month and when I say bleed I mean BLEED, not lightly either. I figured my doctor knew what she was talking about when she recommended this shot. Wrong. In a matter of MONTHS I went from a size 4/6 to a size 12/14 and here I am almost 6 years later and my body still isn’t regulated enough to lose the weight. I went from a large b/c up to a ddd/e cup on just 1 side the other is a d max. my mental health? I've tried to commit 4 times in 6 years all because of the hormones racing through my body because of this shot that’s supposed to “help you”. now let’s get yo the “almost killed me” part. 2 years ago i had been off the shot for 3 years and still hadn’t had a period since then because the shot had stopped them all together which isn’t healthy at all in and of itself but whatever so I went to my gyno and she gave me regulators to try and initiate one, didn’t work, she gave me another round, still didn’t work, she gave me pill birth control to try and speed things up, finally got one, before I even finished that pack I ended up in the hospital at 24 years old in the middle of a pandemic by myself on an IV drip of blood thinner ON BEDREST unable to move monitored every 3 hours using a BEDPAN because I had blood clots so bad they had become pulmonary embolisms and if I moved they could have potentially traveled to my brain and killed me in an instant. Depo, or any birth control, is not worth not having a period I promise you that, babe. Take the week of bleeding, and just wait. Save yourself the trauma.
